Action is needed to make disability rights count!
Independent disability advocacy is helping to change lives and make disability rights count every day.
About independent community-based disability advocacy
Independent advocacy empowers people with disability, strengthens communities, and ensures accountability in systems and services.
Advocacy makes disability rights count, and it does this by:
Preventing exploitation by supporting people with disability to assert their rights.
Holding mainstream services accountable for providing equitable access to health, justice, and public services.
Building capacity and awareness in communities and organisations.
Raising the alarm on violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
Resolving issues before they escalate into crises.
Driving systemic reforms to improve laws, policies, and service delivery.
Supporting people with disability to develop self-advocacy skills.
